Official Ukrainian language

Ukrainian, a language and culture too often denied

Too many Russian conspiracy theories have been built around the Ukrainian language and few Western analysts have wanted to address the problem and clarify it. There is one official language in Ukraine and it is Ukrainian. Once this fact has been ascertained (and accepted), it is therefore possible to study and analyze a difficult and problematic linguistic situation within a state, the Ukrainian one, influenced for too many years by external elements (the Russians) and conspiracies that wanted to cancel the language and the culture of Ukraine.

The official language in Ukraine is Ukrainian!

Since 2019, a law enacted by the government has elevated Ukrainian as the only official language of the country

If the most devastating war since 1945 wasn't underway, it would almost be laughable to have to reiterate that the official language in Ukraine is Ukrainian, as if we had to explain why the official Italian language is Italian or that of France is, guess what, French. Instead we are here talking about the obvious in a tragic moment in world history.
Before the war, Ukrainian was the native language of over 70% of the population, and this number is now growing rapidly because many citizens who were Russian native speakers have switched to using Ukrainian on a daily basis so as to have nothing to share with the invader.

Furthermore, after the latest attempts by the pro-Russian Yanukovych to further divide Ukrainians among themselves by creating different regional languages, with official documents drawn up in different languages, since 2019 a law enacted by the government has elevated Ukrainian as the only official language of the country. A law much criticized at the time but which, in light of the Russian invasion, today seems like a way forward to unify the country as much as possible and to limit the use of the language of sadistic Russian criminals.

Said this, Is it possible to speak Russian in Ukraine? Yes. Nobody is stopping you, but it is also important to remember that in schools throughout Ukraine it will at most be treated as a foreign language and Ukrainian must be used on all documents with legal value. Does this seem trivial to you? Not exactly. In fact, leaving aside the Russophile delusions, many in the West are scandalized because in various European states there are greater freedoms and rights in the use of languages other than the official one of the country. Take for example Alto Adige in Italy, the Swiss cantons or the linguistic division of Belgium where different languages enjoy equal privileges. All these are conquests of freedom achieved after years of stabilization and peace, trying to compare Ukraine to European nations that have been at peace for 80 years is simply ridiculous.
Let's not forget that we are talking about a country that has seen the boots of the Russian army on its soil since 2014 and since 24 February 2022 thousands of war crimes, rapes, violence and abductions of minors by the Russians themselves have been documented in Ukraine.

Propaganda about the oppression of Russian speakers

Its The Kremlin based one of its justifications for the invasion of Ukraine on the issue of the Ukrainian language, theorizing the suppression of Russian speakers by Ukrainians. A lie in perfect style of the most basic Russian propagandaIt's a shame that many Western commentators have, whether intentionally or not, it doesn't matter, have made this theory their own to propagate it through the media we all use.
Let's talk about elementary Russian propaganda because in the country of the butcher putin it is apparently customary to take a crime committed by the Russians and turn it on Ukraine at will to create a perfect fake news: putin he has been in power for over 20 years in Russia and the Ukrainian democracy is transformed into a regime, the opponents of the Kremlin are imprisoned, killed and every voice outside the chorus is repressed as in Hitler's Germany but the Nazis are in Ukraine. Similarly, the Russians during the Soviet Union took the use of the Ukrainian language by poets and writers as a pretext to condemn them to prison (and therefore death) for subversive activity and now they rave about the same method used by the Ukrainians. Believing these propagandist theories is one of those cases in which reality surpasses fantasy, and by a lot.

Long live the Ukrainian language

The patriotism that was originally popularized by the greatest Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko and which is now beating in the hearts of every Ukrainian partisan who tenaciously resists the Russian aggressor

The path towards linguistic unification in Ukraine will still be long and full of obstacles, but the patriotism that was originally popularized by the greatest Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko and which is now beating in the hearts of every Ukrainian partisan who tenaciously resists the Russian aggressor is accelerating this process. The new generations will want to forget these years of blood and pain, and as happened with German for the veterans of the Second World War, Russian will forever be associated with a nightmare.

Another "success" of the delirium of the international criminal putin it is precisely this: he wanted more Russia in Ukraine, instead he will finally have a Ukraine unified under a single language and a drastic reduction of Russian throughout the world.
